V for Vendetta I love Alan Moore's V for Vendetta. It's one of those books that never date because the world is always a thoroughly nasty place filled with wankers with too much power. It's also one of my favourite 'British' books. Moore's descriptions and David Lloyd's art are never too far removed from the London I am forced occasionally to trudge around in. Music plays an important part in the story and I have a few things squirreled away on my hard drive that I thought I should share. David J used to be in Bauhaus. Remember them from The Hunger? J teamed up with Alan Moore and released an EP based on V for Vendetta many moons ago. J is an interesting guy who also worked with the likes of Hubert Selby jnr. You should check out his website here. But here is the one track they laid down with vocals: The Vicious Cabaret by David J and Alan Moore The lyrics can be found in the book which you should all own. Now I've played that to a few friends who have never read the book and it left them a little cold. Context is everything. For those of you who should be pitied for not taking Mr Moore into your hearts I give you three tracks by a band called V for Vendetta. Their website is here and here is something for you to nod your little math rock heads to: Providence is a very small town by V for Vendetta The Fall of Terror Nok by V for Vendetta Math Rock is Not a Four Letter Word. Roll on November the 5th... Mike is blogging: to Johnny Cash
