"JUST ONE MORE THING..."
Saw Star Trek: Nemesis this afternoon with Jess and Daisy. Much better than the last one but still has the feel of an extended episode rather than a movie in its own right BUT... they do kill off one of the major characters. Daisy sobbed for ages... Tom Hardy is excellent as the bad guy but the big problem as usual is finding enough for seven 'leads' to find enough to do in two hours. I hear the first cut was three hours and features a lot more than just the addition of Wil Wheaton (I think I did spot him during the reception scene though) - be interesting to see if they bring a fuller cut out on DVD. Great stuff.
I did remember to set the video for Sherlock Holmes in Washington and Columbo while we were out though. Just finished watching Peter Falk go through his paces which is always entertaining but it did lead to a heated discussion about the merits of Columbo which in turn led me to The Ultimate Lieutenant Columbo site which is wonderful. No mention of the Japanese version of Columbo though (Shinano no Columbo) made in 1998 starring Masaaki Sakai (the guy who played Monkey!) as the cop in the trenchcoat. I've been trying to find more info on that since it first came up in discussion with Frank back when he was staying with us... I think we get one more episode of Columbo tomorrow before BBC2 goes back to showing whatever the hell it is they show while everyone is at work. Hope it's a Patrick McGoohan episode...
