HOME SWEET HOME So we didn't fall foul of British Airways. Much. Our flight was due to get us back to Heathrow by 9.30pm but at that time we were still at the airport waiting for the plane to arrive from the UK. We were told the delay was due to bad weather in London. The airport in Oslo is not the pukesink that Heathrow resembles so we just grabbed a table, charged up the laptop and watched movies until the plane arrived. We made good time only to circle Heathrow forever before finally being given a spot to land. Then there was the wait for the baggage. All the carousels were filled with cases when we arrived even though we were the only passengers. I checked some of the tags and they had all come from JFK. I have no idea where the owners of all those cases were. By the time we got home it was after midnight and of course it was raining... A couple of days back and we are already itching to get away again. Oslo was so EMPTY it was wonderful. The whole of Norway only has half the population of London so of course it isn't at all fucked up in the way this place is. The roads (not that there are many of them) are for the most part empty and there is no pollution. Everywhere is overlooked by trees and the whole trip was literally a breath of fresh air. We have dusted off our London evacuation plans once more... We got back to find that Jess got an unconditional offer to start her M.A. in Journalism this September - it starts in a couple of weeks and will last two years. This is pretty much perfect timing as we now have a real date to work towards in getting ourselves ready to leave the UK for a stretch. We are going to back to Holland before the end of the year and then want to wander around a few other places (Iceland!) keeping an eye out for a possible new HQ as we go. And you can quit emailing me about 'The Scream' :) It wasn't me! PS I got another bunch of gmail invites anyone is still looking. Mike is blogging to: KISS
