"SHOTTIES ARE GOOD" Time for my first real blog update in ages. Today was one of the oddest days in a while, hunting down werewolves in central London. Thanks to Martin's info we found the flat were Jenny Agutter's character lived pretty easily. Unfortunately no-one was home so we couldn't get any interior shots but I snapped off 20 or so different shots similar to ones seen in the film. It was weird to stand on the steps looking across at the church that David and Alex stood in front of during the movie and even odder to peer in through the bay window and see that the room hadn't changed an awful lot since that fucking awesome transformation scene twenty-one years ago. I've been to a lot of cool places but this was one of the best. My blagging skills were needed later in the day when I had to get into a former hospital (the one that David recovers in after the attack) now a homeless shelter. I got in and got some interesting shots along with a number for the building's press-officer so hopefully on Monday I'll be able to pinpoint the exact room and then call again on the new residents of Jenny's flat and try and get into their shower. Taking Chuck's advice I've already started pulling together a magazine article. Frank's been AWOL for 2 days now. Damn Australians. We watched Two Hands the other night which was bloody good and it also turns out that Martin has been in touch with 'Chopper' via email. I need to to get some more new Aussie movies and look into some more stuff by Bryan Brown. Fuck knows where Frank is. Duncan should be in his new country by now I guess... Some links of note: How the US Army ripped off comic books to sell their own brand of all too real violence. Good stuff about online music 'sharing' - Read here about how the Recording Industry Association of America's website was hacked a couple of weeks ago and began offering free music. The site was quickly put back in order but you can chack out a mirror here. For all of you emailing and asking where to go after Audiogalaxy check out the rather interesting After Napster site. Just fnished catching up with Doc over on his blog and am happy to read that his art is taking him places - couldn't be happening to a nicer guy. Speaking of nice guys Simon O'Brien's blog has some really nasty links - I don't know what was worse; the BNP's kid's poster competition or the news that The Wickerman is going to be remade with Nick Cage... fuck. Over on Swish Cottage is the best reason to get excited about upcoming dumb as fuck action movie Triple X: "For me, the key moment in xXx comes near the end of the film, when Vin Diesel pushes aside a police sniper, grabs a bazooka, and says, "It's time to stop thinking cop, and start thinking PlayStation!" Top that Gandalf. Sorry Stu, time to get serious again - here's a list from Newsday covering exactly what's changed in the last year over in the land of the free: * FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigation. * FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records requests. * FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation. * RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes. * FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation. * RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial. * RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them. ...and just in case you thought it was just left wing punky vegan moaning bastrads like me that have a problem with this shit check out what Jimmy Carter has to say about his country. Gotta run again. Email is mounting up. Mike is blogging to: Frank's pile of weird CDs.
