GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE Idiocy kills people. As does the occasional rocket propelled grenade. This article in The Village Voice is supposed to make you feel sorry for the dummies in uniform out in eye-rack but reads like a military version of The Darwin Awards: A staff sergeant is fatally injured when he orders his troops to fire a grenade at the door of a suspected arms market and a piece of shrapnel flies under his helmet and lodges in his head. A sergeant is killed when he falls off a ladder and his M-4 rifle accidentally discharges A private first class who had survived being accidentally shot in the chest by a machine gun while riding in a truck in May shoots himself in the head with a confiscated revolver after loading it with one bullet and reportedly joking about playing Russian roulette. There's an Adam Sandler movie in this somewhere... If I were American I'd feel a whole lot safer knowing these heavilly armed goons were well out of the way. Spending time in Iraq must be like being part of a non stop Laurel & Hardy movie. Just without the cool music and more body parts.
