FAMILY This painting of Jess when she was tiny was painted by Jess' grandmother: Jess' aunt had it framed for us while we are away. The crappy pic doesn't really do it justice. Jess' grandmother painted backdrops for movies during World War II. When you see young Dicky Attenborough running away from the Germans one afternoon on Channel Four you may be able to make out one of Cecelia's painted mountains in the background... Alan from San Francisco is in town so we are going to catch up with him before the weekend. I learnt yesterday (from a third party) what one of Jess' other relations actually thinks of me after years of being charming to my face so I'm either going to bow out of this Sunday's family get-together or explode when I get there.
