Did you know that under The Patriot Act passed quickly in the wake of Sept 11 that the FBI now has the right under US law to demand from bookstores and libraries the names of books bought or borrowed by anyone 'suspected of involvement in international terrorism or clandestine activities'? Once the information is asked for (via a subpoena or warrant) the bookstore owner or librarian is 'gagged' by law from disclosing waht has happened to anyone. As with most of the new laws passed since Sept 11 the emphasis is on individuals or groups 'suspected' of a 'terrorist' act. So much for innocent until proven guilty - if you are for example part of an anti-war movement then that is enough under US law at the moment for the FBI to begin an investigation into every aspect of your life right down to your reading material. I enjoyed the 'Night Monkey' on Jackass this evening. Mike is blogging to: Black Sabbath - Live Evil
